Booking a Tour

Visitors are welcome to tour our sanctuaries from 10 AM to 4:30 PM,
Sunday through Thursday — except in the occurrence of a holiday or funeral service. It is best to call the Temple Office at (212) 744-1400 prior to your arrival to make certain of no unforeseen closings.

All visitors must enter at the Marvin and Elisabeth Cassell Community House
(One East 65th Street). For safety purposes, all large bags, briefcases and backpacks will be inspected upon arrival. After inspection, our security team will require the checking of these items, which then will be monitored while you are with us. Please make every attempt to leave large parcels at home.

Individuals may spend as much time as they wish between the 10 AM and 4:30 PM time frame for a self-guided tour. (Download and print our self-guided tour brochure.)

Docent-led tours are available for groups of 10 or more. Groups should allow approximately
45 minutes for the sanctuaries and an additional half-hour for the Herbert & Eileen Bernard Museum, which features more than 800 pieces that date from the 14th century to the present day. (The museum likewise is open Sunday through Thursday. Admission is FREE.) Group tours should be booked at least two weeks in advance. Please complete and return our group tour reservation form. Once your form is received, a member of our staff will contact you to confirm your visit.

After services on Saturday, a member of our congregation
may lead a brief tour for interested visitors.

Whether you’re a visitor to our website or a visitor to the temple itself,
we are happy to receive your comments. Please post your messages to our online form.

We look forward to welcoming you to Emanu-El!
